BeyondDiagnosis is a youth-led initiative empowering young cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and communities to feel seen, supported, and understood.
BeyondDiagnosis is a youth-led, ground-up initiative reminding people that a diagnosis does not define a person. Through awareness campaigns, storytelling, volunteer initiatives, and educational outreach, we empower young cancer patients, survivors, caregivers, and communities to feel seen, supported, and understood.
Caregivers provide emotional, physical, and practical support every single day. Yet the demands of caregiving can lead to stress, burnout, and isolation — affecting their own wellbeing. Supporting caregivers ensures they have the strength, resources, and resilience to continue caring for others while also caring for themselves.
"Caregivers are often the unsung heroes — they need to be seen, heard, and supported too."
Caregivers absorb emotional weight daily. Without outlets, this leads to compassion fatigue and burnout that often goes unrecognised.
Physical caregiving is demanding and relentless. Many caregivers neglect their own health while prioritising the patient's needs.
Access to peer networks, guidance, and respite resources helps caregivers sustain themselves through the long journey.
Adolescents and young adults (AYAs) face distinct psychosocial challenges — occurring precisely when social identity, relationships, and life direction are most critical. Globally, over 1.3 million new cancer cases are diagnosed among AYAs every year. As cases rise, so too does the number of individuals living with uncertainty, fear, and disruption.
Cancer interrupts education, career trajectories, and the milestones young people are working towards.
Studies show young people with cancer experience high emotional distress — greater than in many other age groups.
Cancer strikes during identity formation — leading to stigma, isolation, and profound social disruption.
Cancer impact is not the same everywhere. Low and middle income countries are projected to see the highest proportional increase in cancer cases and deaths by the year 2050. Differences in healthcare access mean that survival and support systems vary hugely across countries.
Sairithanya founded BeyondDiagnosis to raise awareness of the challenges faced by cancer patients and caregivers while fostering a more informed and compassionate community. She hopes to support and amplify the voices of those affected by cancer, extending conversations beyond the diagnosis itself.
Anumta is always finding ways to make an impact in the community. BeyondDiagnosis is very close to her heart, and she is ready to give everything to raise awareness about the challenges faced by cancer patients and to provide meaningful support and guidance for their caregivers.
From every background and corner of the world, our volunteers bring their time, talents, and hearts to the BeyondDiagnosis mission. Together, we go further.

Sustaining yourself is not selfish — it is essential. Here are reminders for caregivers navigating long-term care.
Delegating is not weakness. Build a support network and lean on it. You do not have to carry this alone.
Caregivers grieve too — for the life before, for the fear of what's ahead. These feelings are valid and deserve space.
Boundaries protect your capacity to show up. Knowing your limits keeps you sustainable — for yourself and your loved one.
Caregiver health often goes unattended. Prioritise your own medical, dental, and mental health check-ins.
Peer connection reduces isolation. Finding even one person who truly understands can be life-changing.
Rest is not abandonment. Sleep, breaks, and moments of joy are part of your care plan — not exceptions to it.
